Contract Appointments

For the past 15 years , we have supplying some of our customers with Contract Staff.

In this situation, the Candidate is appointed by us, is on our payroll and is our staff member.  The candidate would report directly to an selected  manager in the company who leads, directs, motivates and instructs the them on their desired duties and performance.

Contract position are for a fixed duration, usually 4 to 12 months. There are several reasons why companies use contract teams.

1.       They have a specific project that needs to be completed, after which, there is no further need for the employees.
2.       Product launches
3.       One of more employees going on sick leave, maternity leave or sabbatical
4.       Some companies use contract representatives to give constant attention to their older, non promoted products.

We recently had a client who took on a contract team of brand ambassadors. The company had a factory problem and were out of stock, of a new product, for months. Their clients were very annoyed and unhappy and they lost huge market share. They took  a team of contract representatives nationwide, and within 8 months had regained that market share and more.

Should you consider being a contract representative?

Yes, it definitely is worth considering. 80 % of all contract  candidates are subsequently placed permanently, with their contract employer or another company because they have that valuable experience. You are still covered by the Labour Laws of South Africa, so the risk to you is limited.
